Celestial Dancers *
This series started as a simple thought about how the planets’ orbiting around the sun. I started to think about how many dances happen to have a similar orbital pattern on a dance floor. From there I wanted to depict the Planets as dancers, there orbit being a part of their dance. They all even spin on their axles at different speeds. A solar day (1 day and night cycle) on Mercury is 176 Earth days and completes one orbit around the sun 88 earth days and the orbital path is shaped like and egg.
They all orbit the sun in a combined dance, but each does it in their own unique dance. I when as color matching the colors of the planets to get the right shades.
Well you color matched the planets; What about all the moons of the gas giants?
I may be crazy but I am not suicidal, Jupiter has 97 (as of April 30, 2025) and Saturn has now 274 moons as of March 2025. When I did this project Saturn had about a hundred so did ten moons, each one representing ten moons.
But that is science for you, not caring for the laboring of artists…. I joke, Scientists keep doing what you are doing.
You included Pluto, Why?
I am not an Astronomer; I barely pay attention to the argument. Mercury is double the size of Pluto. But I do know Pluto has five moons while Mercury has none. So, while Pluto is considered a dwarf planet, it has moons… Being a dwarf planet doesn’t mean it’s not a planet…
Counter point!!
This is my painting series, and I decided to include it so shush!
